SOURCE: FOX & TLC
Kody Brown has been a part of Sister Wives for over 15 years. Viewers have seen his life journey and even connected with his family members. Naturally, viewers felt shocked when he revealed that he is joining Fox Network’s reality show Special Forces. But what could be the main reason he joined the show? Could it have anything to do with Garrison? Well, it seems like it.
Kody Brown’s son, Garrison, whom he shares with his second wife, Janelle, passed away in 2024. This was a life-changing incident, and to date, Kody repents not trying to reconnect with his son after their fallout. At the time Garrison died, he was not speaking to Kody, and the father and son did not have a great relationship. Many believe that Garrison’s death motivated Kody to join the Special Forces.
Is Kody Leaving Sister Wives?
On August 8, 2025, Kody Brown announced on Instagram that he’s joining Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, where contestants endure intense military-style training and grueling challenges. He called it one of the most exciting experiences of his life and teased that viewers will see him cry on the show.
Fans were taken aback when Kody announced that he is joining the Special Forces. This sparked speculation that Sister Wives might be ending, and Kody is shifting to new opportunities for income. With filming of Special Forces in Morocco and little clarity on timelines, viewers now wonder if this marks the end of Sister Wives.
Sister Wives: Did Kody Use Garrison’s Death As A Reason To Join Special Forces?
Kody recently announced that he is joining the Special Forces. It is a military-based show that puts people through rigorous training sessions specifically designed to push them to their limits. While this is not Kody’s niche, it was nice to see him experiment. However, what’s the main reason he joined such a different show? Many think the main reason is definitely his son’s death.
Kody’s son, Garrison, passed away in 2024, and fans think Kody is trying to reconnect with him. He wants to experience what his son went through during his military service and feel closer to him. If he uses this as the main reason, then it is really very sweet. But at the same time, fans are not sure if his intentions are pure after everything he has done.
They cannot give him the benefit of the doubt because, over the years, he has done several suspicious things. Kody never took accountability for his actions, and maybe he is using his son’s death as an excuse to clear his image. He might act like a repentant father while using this as a medium to whitewash his image. Over the years, he has gained quite a negative reputation, which escalated after Garrison’s death. Fans believe he is using the show as an excuse to clean up his image.
However, if this is his redemption arc and Kody is asking for forgiveness, then it is quite impressive. But with Kody, everything is a double-edged sword, so no one is sure about his actual intentions. At the end of the day, most things in his life revolve around him, as he is a certified narcissist.
